Garritan Personal Orchestra Kp2 Update Flash
I haven't had any problems using GPO (with the latest version of Kontakt 2.2.whatever) in SONAR 7 PE. My current project has GPO going and opens fine for me each morning when I resume work.On my system, SONAR gives me the choice of loading 'GPO' or 'Kontakt' in my soft synth rack (I only have Knotakt player via GPO, not otherwise). I load Kontakt Player directly rather than GPO, then select the GPO instruments I want from its librarian. If you've updated Kontakt Player, there's a weirdness to Native Instruments soft synths that requires you to open them first in stand-alone mode before using them as plug-ins.Sometimes people experience different issues depending on whether they load a synth as VST or Dxi. Try both and see if it makes a difference. Is GPO loading more instruments than you want into Kontakt? Note that GPO files for some instruments are quite large - an orchestra's worth of instruments could be swamping your RAM, which would cause the sort of crash you describe.
You could test that by creating a brand-new project file and loading, say, just a solo flute. If you change the directory or file names of items SONAR wants to load, SONAR will sometimes crash.Remember that GPO is just the samples, the company that makes the Kontakt player is Native Instruments. Your problems probably tie into either the NI product or SONAR, as opposed to GPO's samples. You might therefore want to try the NI forums as well. FWIW, if you're using the Dxi I can say that I've never had much luck with it. It's been my experience that the VST is much more stable - I don't even bother to install the Dxi anymore.More than likely not a problem with the Garritan sounds.
Gary and co provide great support for their products (IMO), and he makes himself very accessible to the users. If it was an issue with his sounds I'm pretty sure he'd take the time to help out. For example, I ran into a small glitch in the new Steinway VST, that caused Sonar to crash under a very specific circumstance.within a few days David from Plogue (Aria engine developer) sent me a fixed build of the Steinway VST. Can't beat that, IMO.if problems persist check out the Garritan forums, and somebody is bound to be able to offer some suggestions.HTHJon. You'll need to contact Native Instruments regarding the Service Center issue. It's possible that you have an older version of Flash installed. You may want to try uninstalling it first, then rerun the Service Center install.Do you have any looped tracks in your recording or have a setting turned on that adds looped tracks?
I've never seen that error before. Something odd may be added to the tracks when you recording. What happens when you load the project in safe mode (hold shift while loading project)? Do you still get the above error about the looped tracks?Jim. ORIGINAL: Steve EKP2 loaded by insert into new project,Steve, you might have mentioned this but I didn't see it: do you have the very latest KP2? Or are you using the one from the DVD?Other than that the fact that this problem happens on multiple machines definately points to whatever could be shared between them: GPO/KP2, windows XP updates, viruses.Seriously, from what you describe with the odd save behavior. I would download AVG and maybe get some other non-free virus check that you can run from floppy or CD and scan those machines.
Something's not right there! (but you knew that already). Aye for Keith above, and add:In this order;AV updates. Get all of them. Run the scan.Spybot S&D Updates.
Run the scan.MS updates. Get all of them, including the.net stuff.Audio driver updates.NI player updates.Chkdsk c: /f.

Steve,Check this. Open the synth view in Sonar and see how many instances of synths are open.
I didn't know that Sonar kept the instance open even after you deleted a synth track folder. You need to go into the synth rack view and remove it there. If the other instances are open, then Sonar tries to load every instance and it takes forever and can cause crashes.
Not sure if this is your issue, but if it is, it is a simple fix.Best of luck. We'll figure this out. Keep sending us info and someone will have had the same issue and fix.Scott. Jon,I didn't get your last email, I went to bed (I'm in England). And today, before logging on, I had one last go at re-loading Sonar & Garritan. I think you can guess what I'm going to write next, especially because of the time you've spent? Yep, it decided to work perfectly!!!!It won't load the CWP I sent you, but everything new functions perfectly.Curious, truly curious!PC 2 still malfunctions but, as it's for a sizeable re-fit soon, I'm not too worried. But I will still do the checks etc you've provided me with and let you know what I find. Can't thank you enough for your help, Jon.Steve E.
